B2B2X partnerships heat up ahead of Q4
While summer may not have been as quiet for many of us as in previous years, September has seen activity pick up pace sharply with a flurry of new partnership announcements. In particular, B2B2X providers are already off to a strong start ahead of the rapidly approaching Q4.
Over the past month, companies providing network and infrastructure solutions have been announcing new partnerships at a rapid pace, with applications and geographies across the whole spectrum of the industry.
This includes major providers such as Visa and Mastercard, who supply B2B2X solutions built on their networks under their respective brands Visa Direct and Mastercard Cross-Border Services. Here, Visa announced a partnership in the last days of August that sees the company extend its collaboration with neobank Revolut to add business card transfers to its range of cross-border solutions.
Meanwhile, in September, Mastercard announced a partnership with Kenya’s Safaricom to enhance cross-border capabilities for its mobile money giant M-PESA, as well as enabling rising UAE BaaS player Nymcard to add remittance-as-a-service solutions to its product suite.
Latin American-focused dLocal has made several partnership announcements over the past few weeks, including collaborations with US-headquartered global payroll player Ontop and remittance major MoneyGram.
For the latter, the partnership is enhancing MoneyGram’s capabilities in high-growth emerging markets, which has been a common geographic focus for many recent announcements. TerraPay, for example, announced that it is supplying Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank, better known as MSB, with an enhanced SME-focused cross-border payments service, while Nymcard and Ontop’s partnerships have also focused on high-growth economies.
With events season rapidly approaching, we’re likely to see far more announcements to come, and if the last month is anything to go by it is going to be a busy quarter for partnerships.
